One to go

This is it until next season: GVA Trofee - Internationale Sluitingsprijs Oostmalle 2013

ONE TO GO.

Try cyclingfans for the links. Series isn't in question, but who takes the final show of the year is.

Those ruts? That was me.

Burnsey beat me to it. You SHOULD be at RiverfrontCX more than you are.

Those ruts in the long wooded area? That was me. The indention on the tree? Me, too. Where were you?

Yeah, we don't see much snow around here these days, but I don't know why I see so many road bikes out there. Removable valve cores are there for a reason. Find some sealant, stick it in those CX tubulars, and get going.

Race Saturday!

Yeah, yeah. The season isn't over in Europe yet, nor is it over here.

Take that, Portland or Seattle or Boulder or Providence or wherever. For we are not just Kansas City, we are Kansas City - Purveyors of Cyclocross Every Chance We Get. This time around, it's Saturday of this week, when Streetcred #3 unveils URBAN CROSS in the West Bottoms.

Yeah, FREE Tallgrass Beer and prizes. And it don't cost 'nothin. Ride what you can, even that new Fatbike that damn near beat me last week.

Laatste Raceday

It's February 10 in Kansas City, so of course we're racing 'cross today. How you doing?

It's been a heavy outing at Elite/Mission Farms, strong winds bringing some riders to a complete stop in parts. But the temperatures are pushing 60. It's Feb. 10. Any questions?

The women's Open field cuts the early line.
Roger has photos and results.

And we have a few months until the next race ...

Start looking for those knobby tires in early September, when we get to do all this again.

Euros still turning pedals in anger

Showing little if any jetlag from the trip to our shores, the fast European guys who took nearly the top 20 spots at last week's Worlds in Louisville continue to amaze.

Saturday was former World Champ Niels Albert doing one of his flyers from many, many laps out, and putting nearly a minute into anyone who dared. He took the second-to-last race of the Bpost Bank Trofee in Lille, Belgium, and basically shows up next race to take the series title.

Sven Nys (Bel) Crelan-KDL'

Today was a muddy affair in SuperPrestige, where there's also one to go, one to go, one to to, one to go. Nys took this one, looking cool in the Worlds jersey, Jonathan Page looked marvelous in his US Champ gear, and finished a nice tenth.

That is why Nys is legendary

I hope everyone who saw the Elite Men race Saturday in Louisville knows they saw a legend in this sport. For Sven Nys to win, to win so much, to do this at this level so many years, to win this so long after his first, and win like he did (and always does), holy cow.

All races were great. Wish I was a French-speaking fly on the wall of the UCI meeting when they learned they'd have to condense the four races into one day ...

And ...

It ain't over. The Euros who schooled us yesterday have a GVA-Trofee race Saturday, then another C1 race the next day. We have Wintery Mix #2 Sunday at Elite.
